Types of Dishwashers

With customer needs varying with each individual, the different types of dishwasher models offered include built in dishwashers, portable dishwashers, counter top dishwashers, or compact dishwashers. While these are options that concern size and fitting requirements, technical differences, in the type of motor pump used, produce reversible and direct drive dishwashers, the difference constituted by the functionality of the motor.

With a motor being capable of pumping water in and out, the reversible type motor services both requirements, while the direct drive motor only pumps water in, with the draining function being regulated by solenoids which heavily rely on valves to effectively drain the water.

The type of motor will also impact its mounting, with direct drive motors being horizontally mounted, as opposed to reversible motors which are vertically mounted. The types of dishwasher motors used also has implications on energy consumption and possibly impacts cleaning, with either type requiring a compromise one or the other factor.

The choice of a particular type of dishwasher as to built in or portable would vary from case to case, primarily being influenced by space constraints and the frequency of use. Further classifications of dishwasher types would be on the basis of price and features, with the basic models being limited to mechanical control systems that operate with a dial and timer, and use plastic racks and cheaper alternatives.

Expensive dishwasher models stand differentiated by computerized control systems, not to mention stainless steel racks, rinse and hold cycles, water softeners, water cleanliness sensors, noise suppression etc.
