Portable Dishwashers

"The attribute of portability is determined by the possibility to easily move the dishwasher, a need occasioned by small kitchen spaces which cannot accommodate a dishwasher on a permanent basis.."

Since portable dishwashers will need to be frequently disconnected and moved, the ease of installing and disconnecting the appliance from the various connections will be a crucial factor that will determine the usefulness of the appliance. Most often portable free standing dishwashers are brought in to service a load of dirty dishes and then moved back or stowed away after use.

The implications of this are that prior to, and after each use, water inlet pipes and drain pipes have to be connected and disconnected, apart from power plugs. Thus the ease of performing these functions is something to advert to while comparing models. Similarly, although the installation is not a permanent one, it pays to insist that the service personnel check on the connections as otherwise the appliance may fail to efficiently drain the waste water etc.

The dynamics of water is such that it always flows from higher altitudes to lower and where the appliance is positioned at a lower altitude than the connecting drain pipes, the water may fail to drain. Such situations may require the use of motor pumps in emptying or draining the water.

Hence the location and the installation of dishwasher appliances is vital to its efficient functioning and even though the installation may not be a permanent one for portable dishwashers, it helps to check on the installation to avoid eventual problems.
