Best ways to Clean Cooktops

A factor that made electric cooktops popular at one time was the ease of cleaning these electric cooktops and its surfaces, which were made of glass or ceramic and constituted flat easy to clean surfaces.

However, the use of glass was only possible in electric cooktops, which primarily achieved heating of the utensils through infra-red radiation, while gas cooktops necessarily had to avoid glass surfaces since gas cooktops functioned with burners that vented the gas for combustion. However, with better and improved manufacturing techniques that now produce toughened glass and ceramic or enamel capable of withstanding high temperatures, cooktop manufacturers are now producing gas on glass cooktops which combine the higher BTU’s of gas while also facilitating the easy cleaning of the cooktops surface.

The attraction of glass or ceramic cooktop surfaces is its resistance to stains and the ease with which it can be cleaned, with as little effort as wiping off the dirt in one sweep. Cooktops being highly susceptible to spills from boiling or cooking pots, glass and similar smooth surfaces make cleaning relatively easy with the right glass cleaner for cooktops. Ceramic being an even better and tougher alternative to glass, its smooth surfaces make cleaning ceramic cooktops an easy task. The attraction of smooth surfaces over gas burners which have tiny holes is obvious particularly when required to clean these of any accumulated dirt or grease or food spills.

This has lead to the development of sealed gas burners which have flat surfaces obstructing any seepage into the vents. And while cooktops of today have self cleaning capabilities, nevertheless, glass and ceramic surfaces make maintenance far easier to any other alternative.
